Biography
A Heavy Metal project featuring ex-DAN HARTMAN and TREASURE guitarist Vinnie Cusano and the former NEW ENGLAND trio of Jimmy Waldo, Gary Shea and Hirsh Gardner. WARRIOR recorded an impressive demo tape that may well have led to a major recording contract had Cusano not been tapped to join KISS for the New York legends' 'Creatures Of The Night' tour. Cusano had previously contributed on a then anonymous basis to the album of the same name.
After recording the ensuing 'Lick It Up' album and touring with KISS on the back of its release, Cusano (who had adopted the name Vinnie Vincent upon his hiring by KISS) was dumped and wound up forming the overtly Glam VINNIE VINCENT INVASION, gaining a deal with Chrysalis.
One of the songs from the WARRIOR demo, 'Boys Are Gonna Rock', was used to form the basis of the 'Lick It Up' track 'And On The 8th Day'. It was then re-recorded for the debut album. Another song, 'I Need Love', would form the basis of VINNIE VINCENT INVASION's 'Shoot You Full Of Love'. This was just one of the reasons why Hirsh Gardner would quickly move to take out a lawsuit against his former band mate
The WARRIOR demos have been known to turn up on one or two KISS bootlegs claimed to be demos from the 'Creatures Of The Night' sessions...
Gary Shea and Jimmy Waldo, of course, joined ALCATRAZZ after the demise of WARRIOR.
