CEPHALIC CARNAGE, a self-styled "Rocky Mountain hydro-grind" band, marked their entrance onto the Doom-Death scene with a triumvirate of demos in 1994's 'Scrape My Lungs', 1996's 'Fortuitous Oddity' and a further self titled release in 1997. Upfront of the opening 'Conforming To Abnormality' album for Headfucker Records the band released a split tape in union with ADNAUSEUM. CEPHALIC CARNAGE covered a version of SLAYER's 'Jesus Saves' for the tribute album Gateway To Hell II' on Dwell Records. The band also recorded a split album with ANAL BLAST on Nightfall Records. Ex-bassist Doug Williams would join ORIGIN during 1999.

CEPHALIC CARNAGE toured North America in 2000 on a package bill with INTERNAL BLEEDING and DEEDS OF FLESH. By September of 2002 the band would be acting as opening act for the veteran German Thrash duo KREATOR and DESTRUCTION.

The band undertook the 'North American Contamination' tour alongside MASTODON, Santa Barbara's UPHILL BATTLE and Philadelphia's DYSRHYTHMIA in May of 2003. CEPHALIC CARNAGE enrolled Patrick Russel of SERBERUS and EMBER repute as stand in guitarist. The band united with MADBALL, HATE ETERNAL, TERROR and headliners HATEBREED for the North American 'Rise Of Brutality' tour commencing 10th September.

The band entered the DVD generation by filming their January 2004 show at the Denver, Ogden Theatre gig for release as a concert package. Supported by NOISEAR and CONTROL ELEMENT, the gig was a free event. CEPHALIC CARNAGE would enter the studio to cut a new album, 'Anomalies', in September with producer Dave Otero. The record would be promoted by a Darren Doane directed promotional video for the track 'Dying Will Be The Death Of Me'.

May of 2005 saw the band announcing North American shows partnered with SHADOWS FALL, TERROR and ZAO. Road work was set to continue throughout 2005, witnessing announced October and November shows packaged with CRYPTOPSY, SUFFOCATION, ABORTED and WITH PASSION. However, in June the band dropped off this tour. Going into September, the band formed up package shows backed by BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, and INTO THE MOAT.

Bassist Jawsh Mullen exited in January 2006 to prioritise his education and other acts MUNIMULA, STUNTCOCK and CARNICERIA. In April the group hit the US campaign trail once again, this time with A LIFE ONCE LOST, SCARLET and THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD in tow. CEPHALIC CARNAGE teamed up with DARKEST HOUR and DEAD TO FALL for an extensive European tour in June.

The group, working with longtime collaborater Dave Otero, commenced fresh album recordings in late January 2007 resulting in the 'Xenosapien' set. Back on the campaign trail, CEPHALIC CARNAGE lent support to BRUJERIA on US dates in March. The group teamed up with TED MAUL and AKERCOCKE for a tour of the UK and Ireland in May. The band's next tour outing was to be the 'Summer Slaughter' trek across the USA throughout June and July, seeing NECROPHAGIST headlining on a mammoth package billing with DECAPITATED, BENEATH THE MASSACRE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, THE FACELESS, AS BLOOD RUNS BLACK, ARSIS and ION DISSONANCE.

DESTRUCTION, CEPHALIC CARNAGE and INTO ETERNITY teamed up for the 'Extreme The Dojo Vol. 21' mini-tour of Japan in May 2009, performing in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.
