ALTER BRIDGE

Biography

In early June CREED, one of the 90s biggest US Rock success stories having 24 million album sales to their credit, confirmed they had folded, this decision apparently due to disagreements between guitarist Mark Tremonti and singer Scott Stapp. Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and previously exiled CREED bassist Brian Marshall, drafting singer Myles Kennedy from MAYFIELD FOUR, quickly announced the formation of ALTER BRIDGE and recording of a Ben Grosse produced September 2004 debut 'One Day Remains'. The record impressively debuted at number 5 on The Billboard 200 chart its week of release. Tremonti also made time to guest on 2004 recordings by former NITRO guitarist MICHAEL ANGELO.

The band, having severed ties with Wind-Up Records, put in a significant appearance at the METALLICA and KORN headlined 'Download' festival in Castle Donington, UK on June 10th 2006.

The single 'Rise Today' saw release in July 2007 and ALTER BRIDGE's second album, 'Blackbird' produced by Michael Baskette, was released on 9th October. 'Blackbird' peaked at no. 13 on the national US charts, selling over 47,000 copies in its first week of sale. It hit no. 37 in the UK. second single lifted from this set, 'Watch Over You', was issued in January 2008. Third single 'Before Tomorrow Comes' arrived in April. The group filmed their 8th November show in Brixton, London for a DVD release.

The spectre of a CREED reformation was raised in late 2008 when vocalist Myles Kennedy was rumoured to be in rehearsals with the LED ZEPPELIN triumvirate of Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham.
