ASYLUM, an Illinois based Heavy Metal project forged in May 2006, features vocalist / guitarist Markus Johansson and bassist Johnny Rox. Johansson had auditioned for LIMP BIZKIT in 2002 at the age of 17. 2009 ASYLUM album tracks were mixed by Orlando Villasenor at Everlong Recording Company in San Antonio, Texas.

Johansson and Rox were joined on the debut ASYLUM album by a slew of well known guest players. These included drummer Kevin Talley, of DAATH, CHIMAIRA and DEVILDRIVER, and second lead guitarist Larry Tarnowski, ex-ICED EARTH. In addition, ZIMMERS HOLE vocalist The Heathen recorded guest vocals on the bonus track, a cover of VAN HALEN's 'Get Up'. Also contributing to the album would be Gene Hoglan, of DETHKLOK, ZIMMERS HOLE, DARK ANGEL and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, David Shankle, from MANOWAR, Andy La Rocque, of KING DIAMOND, Michael Angelo Batio, from NITRO, Roland Grapow, from HELLOWEEN and MASTERPLAN, Bill Hudson, from POWER QUEST and CELLADOR, and DETHKLOK creator Brendon Small.

Vocals on the album were produced by FEAR FACTORY guitarist Christian Olde Wolbers. The album was engineered by Bob Pucci and Wes Seidman, then mastered by Tom Baker. It was announced the live ASYLUM line-up would include CELLADOR guitarist Bill Hudson and ex-DIMMU BORGIR drummer Reno Kiilerich.
