Biography
FLOODGATE was forged by Kyle Thomas, former frontman for New Orleans Thrashers EXHORDER. Initially the project went by the title of PENALTY, subsequently adopted for the title of the 1996 album release through Roadrunner Records. Thomas later fronted Chicago Doomsters TROUBLE. Drummer Neil Montgomery went on to GODS AND MONSTERS.
In the summer of 2002 Kyle Thomas revealed the details of a brand new band project entitled JONES'S LOUNGE. His compatriots in this endeavour comprised Dax Thieler of GREEN LEAF CULT, Jimmy Bower of DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, SUPERJOINT RITUAL and EYEHATEGOD as well as Jason Portera from PITS VS. PREPS. A debut JONES'S LOUNGE album would see production handled by former UGLY KID JOE guitarist Dave Fortman.
During 2005 Kyle Thomas made time to see inclusion on the ROADRUNNER UNITED 25th anniversary album 'The All-Stars Sessions', featuring on the track 'Constitution Down' penned by SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison. In May 2006 Thomas joined up with Richmond, Virginia's ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY as their new frontman.
FLOODGATE reunited for a one-off performance at the 'Raise The Dead' festival, to benefit the New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund, on January 13th 2007 at One Eyed Jack's in New Orleans.
