Biography

Caught in a bitter war of words with British Glam titans WRATHCHILD over who owned the rights to the name, Martinsburg, West Virginia's WRATHCHILD had in fact been in existence just as long as the Evesham crew, dating back to 1978. Faced with problems in releasing the debut album in Europe, the American band relented by adopting the the revised brand WRATHCHILD AMERICA.

The group's fortunes had tended to change when vocalist Brad Divens was recruited after a short spell playing with KIX. Divens recorded the 'Cool Kids' album with them as a temporary replacement for Ronnie Younkins. Things changed from their previous Party Rock when the group parted company with their bassist, Divens doubled his workload by filling the position, and the musical direction took on a far heavier edge.

After issuing the 'Days Of Thunder' demo and debuting commercially on the 'L'Amour Rocks' compilation album in 1987 with 'Armed To Deliver', WRATHCHILD were signed by Atlantic Records and eventually released the 'Climbing The Walls' debut album in April 1989. The album, which sported a cover version of PINK FLOYD's 'Time', was produced by the esteemed Mark Dearnley.

A second album '3-D', promoted by the single 'Surrounded By Idiots', followed in 1991. This set was recorded at Pyramid Sound in Ithaca, New York, produced by Alex Perialas and engineered by RAVEN drummer Rob Hunter. Unfortunately, confusion with the British WRATHCHILD persisted on the world market.

After the group split drummer Shannon Larkin joined the higher profile UGLY KID JOE. Whilst a member of WRATHCHILD AMERICA the skinsman pursued a Hardcore Thrash side project sickeningly named KIDDIE PORN. WRATHCHILD AMERICA band members forged SOULS AT ZERO for the 'Six.T.Six' EP and 1995 album 'A Taste For The Peverse'.

Shannon Larkin had helped co-found Hardcore Punk act AMEN in 1999 and would also deputise for GLASSJAW. Larkin would also step in at short notice in place of Mike Bordin for one date, 1st July, at the close of the 1997 'Ozzfest' touring festival by playing drums for both OZZY OSBOURNE and BLACK SABBATH in the same day! By the summer of 2002 the drummer was working in the studio for the high profile GODSMACK.

In late 2005 Jay Abbene united with his brother, BLACKENED SKY's Andy Abbene, and former TOXIK drummer Tad Leger to launch a brand new project entitled LUCERTOLA.
