Las Vegas, Nevada "Post-modern apocalyptic European Thrash Metal band forged by Matthew Black (a.k.a. Eric Greaney) in April of 2001. Black debuted his project with the opening demo 'Celestial War'. Former TORTURED CONSCIENCE, VENGEANCE RISING and BIOGENESIS drummer Shannon Frye was added in September of 2002.

Relocating to San Francisco, California, AVENGER OF BLOOD drafted another erstwhile TORTURED CONSCIENCE man Mike Soria, also a veteran of GREATER THE HATRED and URN in November. However, Soria's term was brief and within weeks Vince DiMaggio, also of GREATER THE HATRED and URN, took over the bass role. Jake Ottinger completed the band as second guitarist in January of 2003. A three song demo crafted in September at at Trident Studios in Pacheco, notably recorded and mixed by Juan Urteaga of VILE, found AVENGER OF BLOOD as a studio trio of Eric, Shannon and bassist Cesar.

The group would then morph once again, as both Eric and Shannon Frye both relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, drafting Nathan on guitars and Shawn on bass. This new formation performed at the first annual 'Minneapolis Mayhem Festival', sharing the stage with artists such as SUFFOCATION, MORBID ANGEL, SATYRICON, AGENT STEEL, HEATHEN and USURPER.

AVENGER OF BLOOD signed to JCM Records in April 2004 for the first full length recording entitled 'Complete Annihilation'. Recording took place at Maurotone Studios in Las Vegas during October for March 2005 release. Nathan announced his retirement from the band in January 2005, but then retracted this and remained in the ranks. Promotion for the album included an appearance at the CANNIBAL CORPSE headlined 'Northwest Deathfest' in Seattle during early April.

Heavy Artillery Records released the second album 'Death Brigade' in January 2008. A limited edition coloureed vinyl edition, restricted to just 200 copies, featured an exclusive extra track 'Among The Vile Dead'. That same year AVENGER OF BLOOD inducted POSTMORTOM guitarist Sal Lalli whilst Chris Rodrig, previously of ABLIVION, took over lead vocal and bass duties. However, on 4th June Lalli suffered a seizure during rehearsals. Scheduled shows in San Diego, Tucson and Phoenix were duly cancelled.

Citing "line-up problems", due to the exit of Sal Lalli, AVENGER OF BLOOD cancelled its appearance at the August 2009 'Kansas City Power Metal Fest' event at The Riot Room in Kansas City, Missouri.
