From their inception in 1999 New York's AMONG THIEVES made an immediate impression based upon the pedigree of members such as former LIFE OF AGONY bassist Alan Robert, SPUDMONSTERS man Scott Roberts and ex-AGNOSTIC FRONT and MADBALL drummer Will Sheplar. The initial formation of the band comprised vocalist Rob Brock, Sheplar and Roberts, the guitarist having completed a brief run of gigs with the CRO-MAGS, and DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN bassist Jeff Wood. However, once LIFE OF AGONY dissolved Alan Robert took the four string position.

The media buzz on AMONG THIEVES would be both immediate and intense, many critics affording the band with 'major label' status. AMONG THIEVES would enter Schuler's Underground Sound Studios in New Jersey recording studio during September 2002 to lay down a three track demo with legendary producer Michael Barbiero. BIOHAZARD and CORE-TEZ drummer Danny Schuler would guest session on these tracks. Although Schuler's contribution would at first be stressed as only temporary by late September it was confirmed he had indeed been fully recruited into the band.

AMONG THIEVES had their track 'Consequence' included as a bonus cut on LIFE OF AGONY's comeback album 'River Runs Again - Live 2003'.

Scott Roberts was active with his side venture AMPT in December 2004, this band being a collaboration with SLIPKNOT's DJ Starscream and Keith Rooney of GUTWRENCH on bass guitar.
