A highly influential Pennsylvania Metalcore crew founded in 1992. TURMOIL's six song debut demo tape was produced by BELIEVER's Joe Daub. These sessions landed a contract with Germany's Century Media Records, releasing 'Who Says Time Heals All Wounds?' in 1994. 'From Bleeding Hands' followed in 1996. UK shows in April of 1996 had the band packaged alongside STUCK MOJO, POWER OF EXPRESSION, SLAPSHOT and MERAUDER on the 'Crossover 2000' tour.

Tracks cut in 1997 for an intended 7" single, billed 'Anchor', eventually emerged as a full blown album. TURMOIL added former TORN APART guitarist Drew and drummer Dana in mid 1999. However, a planned tour of Europe was shelved. TURMOIL issued the swansong 'The Process Of' then dissolved in 2000 with various members creating THE DEADLY and LICK GOLDENSKY.

Abacus Records compiled a retrospective double CD set for release in 2005, prompting TURMOIL not only to contribute a couple of brand new recordings, crafted at Water Studios in Hoboken with producer Ted Young, but also to announce a reformation. A short batch of European festival dates would be announced for late December. That same month the band added new bassist John Gardner, previously with THE KISS OF DEATH, SEVER THE FALLEN and OUTCOME. A comeback gig would be announced for the 15th April at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia and a full blown West Coast set of dates in September had the band packaged with THE WARRIORS, SET YOUR GOALS and WAIT IN VAIN. January 2006 dates across Europe would be conducted with MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD.

Nate Johnson, from THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD and PREMONITIONS OF WAR, replaced longstanding singer Jon Gula in December 2008, who left the band that September. The band soon began tracking new songs at Skylight Studios in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, with engineer Vince Ratti.
