Biography
SECRET SERVICE was known as a 1992 formation centred on RATT acknowledged band leader and guitarist Robbin Crosby. Fronting up the band would be erstwhile WARRIOR and ATOMIC PLAYBOYS vocalist Parrymore 'Perry' McCarty with Krys Baratto of THE REAL McCOYS on bass and Dino Guerrero of THE HANGMEN on drums. Sessioning on second guitar would be Mark Lewis.
However, the SECRET SERVICE name had actually been used before by Crosby and McCarty for a teen San Diego band long before the days of RATT and WARRIOR. This early formation had notably included guitarist Tommy Asakawa. This trio had also performed prior to this under the billing of METROPOLIS. All three relocated to Los Angeles to find fame and fortune. Another early SECRET SERVICE member was Cliff Schuchart.
Post his RATT tenure, Crosby re-activated the SECRET SERVICE title. Unfortunately internal strife scuppered the band midway through recording an intended debut album and SECRET SERVICE duly folded. Demo recordings were committed to tape but are now very scarce.
Rumours surrounding the blonde giant's health began to filter through into the public arena and by 1994 it was confirmed Crosby's drug abuse had led to an AIDS infection.
Krys Baratto would go on to form up JUICE 13, a union with T.S.O.L. frontman Cheeseboy, guitarist JOHN CHRIST of SAMHAIN and DANZIG repute alongside esteemed drummer Randy Castillo, a former LITA FORD, STONE FURY and OZZY OSBOURNE man. With JUICE 13 fracturing Baratto enrolled in POISON guitarist C.C. deVille's projects THE STEPMOTHERS and SAMANTHA 7. McCarty resurrected WARRIOR for the 1998 album 'Ancient Futures'.
Sadly, Crosby, having been out of the limelight for many years due to his failing health, passed away on Thursday, June 6th 2002. He was just 41 years old.
Mid 2004 saw Baratto working with Modern Rock outfit MODIFY in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
