Biography

SALIVA, founded in Memphis during September of 1996, self financed their debut record following exposure as a finalist in a Grammy sponsored National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences talent contest. The band had been together a matter of weeks before they won the Memphis heats, the Austin, Texas semi finals and then travelled to New York for the finals show, eventually being placed second out of 6,000 entrants. Despite not winning the group shifted over ten thousand copies of their debut in Memphis and the surrounding area. Initially Todd Poole, former singer for 80s Hard Rock band ROXY BLUE, manned the drum stool. He would leave to found RAIL.

SALIVA broke into national public awareness with the inclusion of the track 'Your Disease' on the 'Dracula 2000' movie soundtrack. Signing to major label Island Records the band's Bob Marlette produced sophomore outing 'Every Six Seconds' charted at no. 56 in the USA. The album proved a steady seller and reaped a platinum award in the USA, this success generated by heavy radio play afforded the singles 'Your Disease' and 'Click, Click, Boom'. Controversy hit the band though as legal action ensued when it was revealed that ex-member Todd Poole had co-written a number of the songs without being properly credited.

MȪTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx penned the track 'Rest In Pieces' for SALIVA's November 2002 album 'Back Into Your System'. Sixx would also make his presence felt in the promo video with a cameo appearance. The band pulled off the coup of landing the opening act slot for the gigantic August 2003 AEROSMITH / KISS US tour.

A new album, 'Survival Of The Sickest', arrived in August of 2004. In May 2005 guitarist Chris Dabaldo announced he was to leave the band. However, within a few weeks he had retracted this statement. Just one day after this about turn though, Dabaldo posted another report confirming that he had changed his mind once again and had indeed left the band. Meantime, Josey Scott heightened his profile, being featured in an acting role in the movie 'Hustle And Flow' and also as a "sex crimes investigator" in the TV series 'Wanted'.

The May 2006 issued 'WWE : Wreckless Intent' compilation, featuring WWE wrestling themes showcased throughout the company's 'Smackdown!', 'Raw', 'Saturday Night's Main Event' and pay per view extraganza flagship formats, boasted the previously unreleased track 'I Walk Alone', a song composed for the WWE wrestler Batista.
