Taking Death and Grindcore Metal vocals to their most extreme and logical conclusion is Brooklyn's CANINUS (pronounced "K - 9 - us"), a band employing two dogs, pit bull terriers Budgie and Basil rescued from animal refuge, as lead vocalists. The group, a strictly vegan affair, was formed during 1992, with early line-up changes seeing drummers L. Ron Howard, Rocky Raccoon and Thunder Hammer Attack giving way to Curry Lightning.

CANINUS issued the self-financed album 'Now The Animals Have A Voice' in 2004. The following year a split album, shared with HATEBEAK, emerged on the Reptilian label. A split 7" single in alliance with CATTLE DECAPITATION arrived in December 2005.
