Biography
Noted Hard Rock bassist Marco Mendoza, was born in San Diego, California, but would spend his formative years living with his grandmother in Tijuana, Mexico. He came to prominence with BLUE MURDER, the post THIN LIZZY band assembled by guitarist JOHN SYKES, from 1991 to 1993. An association with DAVID BOWIE's TIN DRUM project saw Mendoza contributing to the 1995 'Real World' album. He also sessioned on TOMMY SHAW's '7 Deadly Zens' effort.
With THIN LIZZY's reformation in 1996 Sykes brought Mendoza into the ranks, where he performed live until 2000. The following year he would form up TED NUGENT's rhythm section alongside drummer Tommy Aldridge. 2000 had Mendoza contributing bass parts to DAVID COVERDALE's solo set 'Into The Light'. Still with TED NUGENT, Mendoza put down bass on the Detrout City wildman's albums 'Full Bluntal Nugity', released in 2001, and 'Craveman', issued in 2002. 2004 found his skills being put to use on a world tour by WHITESNAKE, appearing on the concert album 'Live...In The Still Of The Night', and sessioning on DEREK SHERINIAN's solo album 'Mythology'. Mendoza returned to THIN LIZZY in 2005, replacing Randy Gregg, and continued with the band until 2007. During this tenure he also found time to once again go on the road with TED NUGENT, during 2006.
Mendoza also featured with the 2005 act SOUL SIRKUS led by JOURNEY guitarist NEAL SCHON for the album 'World Play'. Over the years Mendoza has performed on several tribute albums such as 1999's 'Little Guitars' VAN HALEN set, 2000's 'Metallic Assault' homage to METALLICA, 2002's 'Stone Cold Queen' QUEEN offering and 'An All Star Lineup Performing the Songs from Pink Floyd' plus 'One Way Street' AEROSMITH tribute.
In 2007, Marco Mendoza appeared on the debut album of THE CRANBERRIES' vocalist Dolores O'Riordan 'Are You Listening?'
On July 6th, 2007, Mendoza released his first solo album 'Live For Tomorrow', through Italian imprint Frontiers Records in Europe. The record was produced and co-written by guitarist RICHIE KOTZEN. Guest sessioneers included TOTO's STEVE LUKATHER on guitar, WHITESNAKE's Doug Aldrich on guitar, TED NUGENT, plus drummers Tommy Aldridge and Brian Tichy.
Mendoza also performed residency gigs at La Vee Jazz Club in Studio City, Los Angeles with his band MENDOZA, HEREDIA, NETO. This trio has issued a live album. In 2008 he formed up a live band involving guitarist Rafael Moreira and drummer Tommy Clufetos. Subsequently he re-forged links with Tommy Aldridge, the pair joining LYNCH MOB for US dates in June.
