Biography

GODSPEED, having evolved from SLUDGETANK, presented quite a unique proposition for a Metal band boasting two bassists Rob Hultz and Chris Kosnik. The band garnered a high profile courtesy of their major label 1994 'Ride' album produced by Rachel Bolan of SKID ROW.

Further exposure found GODSPEED as opening act to both CATHEDRAL and BLACK SABBATH. The band, fronted by a guesting IRON MAIDEN vocalist BRUCE DICKINSON, would also make their presence felt on the BLACK SABBATH tribute album 'Nativity In Black'. Despite this huge international exposure GODSPEED did not stay the course.

GODSPEED guitarist Tommy Southard joined up with the post SKID ROW outfit PRUNELLA SCALES in league with Rachel Bolan and SAIGON KICK drummer Phil Varone. Later Southard became a member of SUGARTOOTH but then would found SLAP ROCKET in union with NUDESWIRL vocalist Shane Green, another former GODSPEED bass player Chris Kosnik and drummer Keith Ackerman. SLAP ROCKET would only get to contribute one song, 'Holy Mother Sunshine', to a compilation album before Kosnik and Ackerman's commitments to their main act ATOMIC BITCHWAX drew them away. Southard duly created Stoner / Doom act SOLACE enlisting old GODSPEED comrade Rob Hultz and GLUE NECK vocalist Jason.

David Blanch forged Punk act DIRTY JOHNNY, releasing an album for on Drown Out Records. In 2005 Blanch returned fronting STAGGERWIGG, a collaboration with OTHERSIDENINE guitarist Jay, ex-LATSHAW and DIRTY JOHNNY bassist Tommy Latshaw and former LATSHAW and TICKNONSTOP drummer Mikey Latshaw.
