Biography
Hulk like guitarist who made his name alongside ALICE COOPER before venturing into a solo career, releasing his debut, self-titled affair, through MCA Records in 1987. Roberts utilised the talents of bassist Steve Steele for both albums. Drums for the debut were supplied by Victor Ruzzo and for 'Saints And Sinners' by PAT BENATAR band man Myron Grombacher. Second guitarist John McCurry also makes an appearance on the 1991 album.
The 'Saints And Sinners' album was a far more melodically inclined effort and included a cover version of 'Does Anybody Really Fall In Love Anymore', originally penned by JON BON JOVI and RICHIE SAMBORA for CHER. Other outside contributions came in the form of Jack Ponti and Vic Pepe's 'Dance Little Sister', whilst a major player in the making of the album was producer DESMOND CHILD who, naturally, gets his name credited regularly throughout the record. Child also produced the album under his pseudonym of Sir Arthur Payson.
Roberts founded a band project PHOENIX DOWN with ex LIZZY BORDEN guitarist Gene Allen during the 90s, signing with English label Now And Then to release the 'Under A Wild Sky' album.
In 2001 Ex-STEELHEART vocalist Michael Matijevic, going under a new guise of Mikey Steel, cut a version of the Roberts song 'Twisted' from the 'Saints And Sinners' album for inclusion on the 'Rockstar' movie soundtrack.
