The release of the 'Under The One Sky' album by the DISTANCE appeared to cause a degree of confusion amongst retailers. Despite the record being a distinctly Rock based affair, the presence of former CHIC members Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson led to the record often being filed in the Dance / Soul section of many record stores.

Having acquired a taste for Hard Rock with their involvement with THE POWERSTATION, Edwards and Thompson recruited guitarist Eddie Martinez, ex-ARCANGEL keyboard player Jeff Bova and unknown British vocalist ROBERT HART to the project. The album was not a success, mostly ignored by the media although was popular with connoisseurs of American AOR. Inevitably, the group broke up with Bova contining with session work and Tony Thompson joining ex-PLASMATICS, LITTLE STEVEN and VOODOO X man Jean Beauvoir in CROWN OF THORNS. Bova would then record a second POWERSTATION album. Sadly, Bernard Edwards died young.

Hart pursued a solo career that has so far resulted in the release of two records, 1989's 'Cries And Whispers' and 1992's 'Robert Hart' with Jeff Bova playing on the first. Hart then succeeded BRIAN HOWE as frontman for BAD COMPANY appearing on their 'Company Of Strangers' album. Hart subsequently fronted COMPANY OF SNAKES. In 2005 the singer announced the formation of THE JONES GANG, a high profile band union with drummer Kenny Jones of THE WHO, SMALL FACES and THE LAW along with FOREIGNER, BAD COMPANY and PETER FRAMPTON band bassist Rick Wills.
