LIGEIA, named after the 1838 short story by Edgar Allan Poe, is a Springfield, Massachusetts Emocore outfit forged in December 2003 by singer Keith Holuk, guitarist Ryan Ober and drummer Phil Fonseca, subsequently enrolling guitarist Chris Keane and bassist Matthew Bennett. Subsequently enrolled would be bassist Bryan Forbes and drummer Ryan Irizarry. The latter was substituted by Patrick Murphy. LIGEIA spent January 2006 touring the USA alongside TIME OF CHOLERA and CENTURY. In February the band then hooked up with AUGUST BURNS RED and ION DISSONANCE for further dates. Gigs in the USA throughout March had the group packaged with AUGUST BURNS RED, DEMIRICOUS and RINGWORM.

The band's debut album, 'Your Ghost Is A Gift', emerged through Ferret Records in March. In April the group returned to the road backed by FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW and ED GEIN. Further US shows throughout June had the band working alongside SINCE BY MAN, SCARLET and MISERY SIGNALS. July witnessed shows packaged with REMEMBERING NEVER and ED GEIN, capitalised on by yet another leg of US dates aligned with HEAVY HEAVY LOW LOW and STAND BEFORE THE FIRING SQUAD. In December the group made it over to Europe for concerts in Belgium and Holland prior to British shows backed by PENKNIFELOVELIFE.

Brandon Whipple took over bass duties during 2007. The band set out on the 'Two Dollar Brawler' US tour allied with THE HANDSHAKE MURDERS, APIARY and BURN IN SILENCE during February and into March 2007. The album 'Bad News', produced by Ken Susi of UNEARTH, was recorded in Grafton for an August 2008 release through Ferret Music.
